About
I am a freelance writer, editor and journalist based in Brooklyn, New York. I am the co-author of a parenting book, published in March 2017, about how children learn to talk. I am a contributing editor with NewsGuard, an organization dedicated to combating misinformation in the media; am currently pursuing a Master’s Degree at the Graduate Center at the City University of New York; and have worked as journalist covering the legal world. I also keep an occasional blog about raising my kids – because why not?
Before starting a freelance career, I worked as a reporter for more than 15 years at Reuters, Bloomberg News and The American Lawyer magazine, primarily covering legal affairs, the business of law, litigation and the courts. I practiced daily deadline journalism and wrote deeply-reported feature articles; a 2003 article I wrote for The American Lawyer was nominated for the Jesse H. Neal Award for best single feature article in business journalism (that was, um, before it was on the Internet!). Over the years, I wrote about law firm life, the detainees at Guantanamo Bay, a major environmental lawsuit in Ecuador, the U.S. criminal justice system, litigation at SeaWorld, tax evasion, securities law, white-collar crime, employment class-actions and more.
